Did you know that Career Planning and Development (CPD) offers a robust job board for Walden University students and alumni? CPD recently upgraded its Walden Job and Internship Locator platform with new, enhanced features and search capabilities. The new platform includes more jobs and experiential opportunities for a variety of career fields.
Whether you are new to the Walden Job and Internship Locator or an active user, the steps below will help you navigate the system and increase the chances of landing your next opportunity.
- Log In as a Job Seeker and Create Your Profile
If you are a Walden student or alum, log in to the Walden Job and Internship Locator using your Walden email address and password. Note to alumni: If you do not have access to your Walden credentials, please contact support@mail.waldenu.edu with a request to reactive your account.
After logging in, create a Job Seeker Profile by completing the required fields. If you are actively job searching or looking for internship or practicum opportunities, select YES in the ‘Allow Employers to Find Me’ field. If you are not ready to apply at this time, select NO in this field. You can always update your profile as your career-related needs change.
- Search Postings
After logging in and creating a Job Seeker profile, you are now ready to search for jobs and other experiential opportunities! Click on ‘Search Postings’ on the left-hand menu to get started.
First, search by job title, company, keyword, or specific skills.
If you are not sure which search terms to use, consider using Microsoft Copilot, or another Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool, to generate a search list.
Example of a Microsoft Copilot prompt:
“Generate a list of entry level, midlevel, and advanced job titles in the [healthcare, nursing, research, education, business, counseling, psychology, information technology, etc.] field.”
Second, search by city or zip code to pinpoint your preferred geographic location.
The Walden Job and Internship Locator’s search function uses Filters, so it is important to search one field at a time and then ‘Clear Filters’ to start a new search. You can also save searches for future reference. For additional tips on how to navigate the job board, refer to the Job Seeker Guide.
- Access Walden-Sourced Jobs
Employers who are actively looking for Walden students and graduates have a “Walden Sourced” flag next to their posts. Employers include members of the Walden community (staff, faculty, alumni and students), Covista Talent Acquisition (which includes openings at Walden University), external employers, potential internship/practicum field sites, and others who may want to share opportunities.
Additionally, the Walden Job and Internship Locator scrapes open positions across the internet from both general job aggregates and interest-specific job boards, delivering a robust, one-stop, location-based job seeker experience.
- Prepare Before You Apply
The job board is a central place to search for new opportunities. However, to stand out as an applicant takes preparation, knowledge, and time. Similar to applying through company websites or using other job search sites, it is not the quantity of applications that matters most, but the quality of the materials you submit to employers.
Before you apply, visit the Walden Job and Internship Locator’s Resource Library (located on the left-hand menu), which includes links to resume and cover letter resources from the Career Planning and Development website and access to the SkillsFirst career management system with 600+ resume samples. Use these tools to create professional-looking application materials, highlight your skills and accomplishments, and tailor materials to the specific needs of employers and potential field sites.
- Support the Walden Community
As a member of the Walden community, you can play an important role in helping others find meaningful work, advance their careers, and expand their impact. If you are currently employed and your organization is hiring, consider inviting your organization’s HR recruiting team to register and share opportunities on the Walden Job and Internship Locator. If you are a business owner, nonprofit founder, or preceptor/site supervisor seeking practicum or internship students, register as an Employer and start sharing openings with Walden students and alumni! Refer to the Employer Guide to get started.
The Walden Job and Internship Locator is one of many resources that Career Planning and Development offers to jump-start a job search, expand career options, prepare application materials, land an offer, and more!
